The simple device presented here will be used to explore some visual effects, in particular the phenomenon of the persistence of vision. Among the optical toys and the experiments which can be done there are: the color mixing experiment, the Benham disc experiment, the stroboscope, the Phenakistoscope, the Thaumatrope, and, with a somewhat more complex setup the Zoetrope and the Praxinoscope.
